A incredible Pink Ivory Dish Turning enjoy the wonderful unusual pink color.
Even if ll my Pink Ivory turnings are from the same pink ivory log --- but the color inside the log varies. Sometimes the pink color is more bright than in other pieces. This is just the way wood is. None of the color in any of my peices are somehow enhanced - they are just the way the wood in the individua i particular piece came out.
To turn pink ivory is certainly a challenge -- since only extremely sharp tool will create a pleasant surface since sanding is not an option. and would leave unpleasant streaks. It takes a lot longer to turn a pink ivory bowl than maybe walnut/maple/redwood. but the end result is just stunning.nch
I do not want explain Pink Ivory the best place would be- somebody who is interested . I would suggest checking wikipedia.org and search for pink ivory. Everything I would write would sound like a made up story.
Many years ago I was able to obtain a log of a pink ivory tree and this is a bowl of it.

The diameter is really the maximum size this log will yield --- and since I have the log -- I know what can be done with it.
